Architectural Salvage and Coffee

Here’s a post for those who love to fill their homes with unique items that are rich in history. Several days ago we were in Vauxhall to check out the exhibition at Gasworks, and during our wandering we stumbled upon this great architectural salvage shop, called Lassco, not far from Vauxhall Station. I had heard of this place before, but I’d never been, so we decided to have a peek.
The Grade II listed building, named Brunswick House, was described as a mansion house built in 1758. The interior feels like the skeleton of what was once an impressive and ornate house, while the exterior has had little alteration. The garden was filled with items to purchase such as old statues, fountains, planters and also more unusual finds like electrical insulators and old street signs. Inside you can find anything from the reclaimed wood of a ship to reproduction doorbells.

Some curious finds had us scratching our heads, like the sign in the photo below.

As we snooped around the shop, we couldn’t help but notice a delicious smell wafting from their cafe.

Unfortunate for us, we didn’t have the time to stop for a bite but if the food is half as good as it smells, I’m sure it would have been a real treat. If you’re interested in an alternative to the usual coffee franchises, visit Brunswick House at 30 Wandsworth Road, Vauxhall.
